Jeremiah relayed a difficult message to the people of Judah. This is a great quote that sums up what we celebrate tomorrow morning. Wright said this about the resurrection, “People often flail around in desperation to find an alternative explanation for the empty tomb....” The resurrection is central to our surrender to Jesus. Critics attempting to bypass the reality of Easter are trying to fit Jesus into, as N. T. Wright said, “their comfortable worldview.” We’re celebrating Jesus’ literal, bodily resurrection Sunday morning and the challenges faced by the first witnesses of the empty tomb. We face resistance when we surrender our lives to Jesus. The stress of walking with Him in a fallen world can wear us down. God offers us restoration for our journey with Him from beginning to end. Throughout my life I’ve heard preachers and teachers talk of the importance of biblical topics in relation to the number of times it is mentioned in the text. I want you to take a moment and think about what the Bible says about perseverance and how often the subject is mentioned. I believe you’ll appreciate the importance placed on staying in the fight.
