One month ago, my Dad stepped from this life into the next. On March 25, he went to the doctor for a cough. He was diagnosed with lung cancer. The early prognosis was 12-18 months, but his health deteriorated quickly over the following weeks. I wasn’t ready for that, but I’m thankful that he was. I chose these three pictures for a reason. Mom let me copy them from her phone. The first is a picture of Dad at Point Clear. Jason, Amber and I got them a stay at the Grand Hotel for their 50th wedding anniversary. The Friday before Dad passed away, he was able to reach the 55 year mark. The second is a group picture of the “Wright Boys.” Amber and Mom have always been outnumbered. Timothy is the only grandchild, and I don’t think Dad (or I) could handle a girl. Finally, there’s a picture of Dad and I getting ready to go to a USM football game. Timothy went too. Oddly enough, my family gave Dad his shirt as a gift, and he bought mine. He also bought my hat. I inherited my love of football from him. Of course, I inherited more than that from him. I am thankful that Dad wanted me and Jason to be educated, to be successful, and to feel loved. Most of all, he wanted us to know Jesus. I can’t speak to successful, but I do have some diplomas, and I have always felt loved. I miss Dad, but I will see him again because of Jesus. I am thankful to be a child of God, and I am also thankful to have an earthly father like Dad.

Sunday morning we’re going to begin a study on the life of Solomon. Our journey begins with David’s charge to his son and successor. David’s desire to honor God became Solomon’s purpose. Join us as we begin his story. #abbclife #goodjudgment #1chronicles28
