This Sunday, our advent theme is peace. When most of us think about peace at Christmastime, we think about calm and quiet. Peace in light of Jesus is about the need for peace between God and humanity. We’ll talk about that peace Sunday morning. #abbclife #christmaslights #advent2022 #romans5

Above my computer desk in my office hangs a picture that signifies a turning point in my life. First of all, it’s a team picture from my first international mission trip to Esquel, Argentina. Second, the team was a combination of my church in Montgomery and Dauphin Way. When I came to Mobile, this small group of people came alongside me and my family to help us feel welcome. If you look closely at that picture, you’ll see me standing next to one of those special friends, Melissa Sutton (@meli22130). I worked with Melissa at Dauphin Way, and I can’t express the numerous times that she shared a laugh, some encouragement, and a little sage advice with me. Melissa and I shared a passion for missions, and I think the second picture communicates her love for people and her love for the Lord. I was saddened to hear that she passed away yesterday, but I am certain that her faith is made sight. If you had the pleasure of knowing Melissa, you know that she had two great loves in life. I’m praying for Chris and Jordan tonight. If either of you see this post, know that you were, without a doubt, treasured by Melissa. I can’t fathom what you’re going through, and I am deeply sorry for your loss. Just know that your wife and your mother made an impact on many people. I am so thankful that I was blessed to have been one of them. #melissasutton

President Reagan was referring to the Berlin Wall, which made West Berlin an island of democracy in the heart of communist East Germany. That wall fell in 1989. Paul spoke of another wall that was toppled some 2,000 years ago. We’re going to talk about that event this Sunday morning at 11. #abbclife #churchtalk #ephesians2

Opportunities are open doors that beckon us to step forward and pass through. As we talk about preparing for the future, I want to take time to talk about the importance of walking through the open doors that lie ahead of us. This Sunday is Homecoming at Airport Blvd., celebrating 67 years of ministry to our surrounding community.
