Romans 3:25-31

Chapter 3 has been a great example of the depth of Paul's message in the letter to the Roman churches. I've been challenged as I've prepared, seeking to effectively bring God's Word to His church. The exercise has helped me to see in my everyday life a bit of Paul's argument for salvation by faith, … Continue reading Romans 3:25-31

Romans 3:21-26

I was thankful for the opportunity for a "do-over" this past Sunday (and this coming Sunday, for that matter). I felt we had much to discuss in these six verses, and I hope that came across as we have studied them together this week. Paul's argument in Romans 3 brings to a point the universal … Continue reading Romans 3:21-26

Romans 3:19-31

Have you ever bitten off more than you can chew?I am not only guilty of that, but I'm a repeat offender!I have chosen to backtrack this upcoming Sunday to try to do a better job of tending to the very dense passage at the heart of what we talked about too generally last week. Before … Continue reading Romans 3:19-31

Last week, the challenge for the new year was all about taking action. This week, we’re turning to Ephesians to study Paul’s prayer for the church in Ephesus. Like those First-Century believers, we need strength to be able to take action on God’s call to service. I hope to see you Sunday morning. #abbclife #newyearnewyou #ephesians3
Today we remember a man who chose to confront violent oppression using peaceful demonstration. Throughout history, humanity has tended to use violence to persecute others. Dr. King led the civil rights movement in a manner contrary to the historical norm. Jesus came to bring His peace into our violence. Today is a reminder that the only effective path toward change is the proclamation of the confrontational gospel of peace. In the words of Dr. King, “The time is always right to do the right thing.” #abbclife #martinlutherking #gospelofpeace
Tomorrow morning we’re going to begin a new series on setting your path for 2023. Setting your path begins with paying attention to what God is calling you to do. We’ll take a look at Proverbs 4 for guidance on how to focus on the future. #abbclife #newyear2023 #newyearnewyou #proverbs4
Lights are a familiar sight at Christmas. Jesus came to bring light into darkness. He calls believers to reflect that light to others. Tomorrow we’ll talk about that light as we celebrate Christmas Sunday together. #abbclife #christmaslights #christmas2022 #matthew16
Sunday is the fourth Sunday of Advent, and our theme is love. The Beloved Disciple tells us that God’s love is shown to us, and we are called to love God and share His love with others. We’re going to talk about that love Sunday morning. I hope you’ll join us at 11:00. #abbclife #christmaslights #advent #1john4
This Sunday’s Advent theme is joy. As Zechariah conveyed God’s message for His people, he wrote about a time when Israel would be restored. The command was to rejoice today because of what would be coming at some point in the future. How does Zechariah’s prophecy help in in 2022? We’re going to talk about that Sunday morning. #abbclife #advent #zechariah9 #christmaslights
